The Vercors

Discover the Vercors

Located between the Northern Alps and Provence, The Vercors offers spectacular landscapes with gorges, vertical rocks and high plateaus. The Vercors range forms a natural fort that stretches from Grenoble in the north to Die in the South. Its highest summit, the Grand Veymont reaches 2,341 metres at its peak. In 1970, the Vercors became one of the first Regional Parks created in France.

The northern part

The northern part of the park counts 7 villages: Villard de Lans, Corrençon en Vercors, Autrans, Méaudre, Lans en Vercors, St-Nizier du Moucherotte and Les Coulmes.
The largest one, Villard de Lans, is an alpine town and host the biggest downhill skiing area of the Vercors in winter, which is linked to Corrençon en Vercors. This resort with over 4,000 inhabitants, has been a popular touristy destination for almost a century. Since the 20's, people have been visited the Vercors to breath its pure alpine air. Villard de Lans was a climatic resort before becoming a ski resort.

Today, all villages live all year round thanks to a rich craft industry, farming and also tourism. A wide range of activities is offered to visitors, from skiing to hiking and mountain-biking. All the activities are adapted to adults and children, making it a dream destination for families.

The 1968 Olympic Games

The Vercors, which played a part in the 1968 Olympic Games, has been developing its tourism very gently. Even though today the Vercors offers very good services and infrastructures, it is still a hidden gem that will delight people looking for a relaxing holiday in an authentic mountain environment.
