The "Bleu du Vercors- Sassenage" is a mild, creamy blue cheese with a slight taste of hazelnuts. This cheese, which has been made since the Middle-Ages, can be eaten on its own, but is also used for cooking.
It goes very well with another local speciality "les ravioles".
Ravioles are a kind of small ravioli usually filled with cream, cheeses and local herbs instead of meat.
Fish lovers will be delighted by the Vercors'trout, while meat lovers will enjoy the local beef.
And for those with a sweet tooth, try the mountain honey and the "noix de Grenoble", the well-known walnuts from Grenoble.
All these specialities can be found in supermarkets and delicatessens, or can be enjoyed already prepared in restaurants.
