Caving

The Vercors has one of the most diverse and richest underground landscapes in France. With 2,800 caves, the Vercors is a very well-known area for caving. Caving, one of the Vercors' most popular activities can be done in the winter as well.


A renowned destination

Caving is a major activity in the Vercors. It is practiced by people who enjoy it as a sport and hobby, but also for scientific reasons by archeologists and hydro-geologists. Some caves are also open to anyone like the spectacular "Grottes de Choranche" and "Grotte de la Luire".
With over 300 listed caving sites, the Vercors is the perfect place to discover this unusual activity. And more caves are being discovered every year !
