During this visit, you will discover the site and its history from the era of our ancestors until the 21st century. This is an invitation into the universe of charcoal makers, where a rebellious and hard-wearing wind blows. Discover a world of fascinated explorers and the perfumed secrets of nature. Within the intimacy of lantern lights or in front of the brilliance of a light and sound show, the site tells the story about men and nature set in the Vercors region.
New : audio guides in foreign languages (English and Dutch) are available during the visit.

Le Scialet de Malaterre / Villard de Lans

This spectacular fault is located in the heart of Loubière forest above Villard de Lans. At the "maison forestière" in Malaterre, follow the road of the same name for 500 m (signposted); the walk takes five minutes. Over the shaft, which spans approximately ten metres and drops 120 m below your feet, a steel footbridge has been erected to let the most daring gaze down in total safety.

Le Trou qui Souffle / Méaudre

Located above Méaudre village, Le Trou qui souffle is accessible all year round by heading for the ski slopes on the old Autrans road. One kilometre further on, take the first road left for 500 m. At the edge of the path, two cracks in the rock exhale a glacial wind which comes from the depths of the earth. In fact, this hole is part of a huge network of galleries and shafts left behind by the water in which air circulates over several kilometres.
