Outdoor activities

Mountain biking

Thanks to hundreds of kilometers of signed mountain-biking tracks, mountain bikers can safely explore the area. Guides and maps showing the itineraries and their levels are available at all Vercors' tourist offices. From easy tracks for families to very technical and challenging ones for experts, the Vercors will please all type of mountain-bikers.


Sites labeled by the French Cycling Federation


Autrans - Meaudre
( site nb 67 )
There are 10 marked paths over 150 km between Autrans and Meaudre :
2 green, 3 blue, 2 red and 3 black tracks.

Villard de Lans - Corrençon en Vercors (site nb 25)
There are 12 marked paths covering 137 km between Villard de Lans and Corrençon en Vercors :
4 green, 4 blue, 3 red and 1 black tracks.


Mountain biking site

Lans en Vercors - St Nizier du Moucherotte
These two small villages have seven itineraries ranging from very easy to technical, as well as 70km of hilly cross country skiing track open to mountain bikes in the summer. They are all listed in maps available at the Vercors' Tourist Offices.

The Tour of the Vercors by mountain bike
It takes between 5 and 7 days to cover the 230km, adapted all the way to mountain bikers.

It takes between 1 and 3 days to cover 88km on the high plateaus in the Natural Reserve. This itinerary is for expert mountain bikers only.


Downhill and Freeride Mountain Biking

There is an area dedicated to downhill and freeride which is accessible from the top of the cable-car in Cote 2000 (Villard de Lans).
This area includes :

4 downhill tracks
 
1 black run : 1,5km long, with a 350m vertical descent. This is a very difficult run for experts.
1 red run : 2,5km long, with a 220m vertical descent. Quite difficult for advanced mountain bikers.
1 blue run : 4km long, with a 570m vertical descent, for intermediates.
1 green run called "La Salamandre" : 5,5km long, with a 570m vertical descent, ideal for beginners and families.

New for 2009 : 1 red run and 1 blue run

1 freeride area
This area includes various enduro downhill itineraries. All are black or red runs.
